Sberbank Rossii is the largest Bank of the Russian Federation and the CIS. Its assets make up a quarter of the country‘s banking system, while the share of Bank capital is 30%. According to the magazine The Banker (July 1, 2008), Sberbank was ranked 33rd by size of fixed capital (capital of 1st level) among the largest banks in the world.
Founded in 1841, Sberbank of Russia today - modern universal Bank satisfying requirements of various groups of customers in a wide range of banking services. Sberbank occupies the largest market share of deposits and is the main creditor of the Russian economy. As of 1 February 2009, Sberbank‘s share of Russia in the market of private deposits amounted to 50%, and its loan portfolio represented 30% of all issued in the borrowing country.
